Grace CRC of Scarborough has three positions approved by the Canada Summer Job Program. These opportunities are available to the following:   permanent residents, Canadian citizens, and qualified Refugees ages 15-25. The jobs will start in June 2025 and last for six weeks at 30 hours a week.  For more details, please see the job descriptions listed. In an effort to best accommodate growth in many fields, we will be looking for a willingness to serve in 4 areas, with a main focus in the role each person is best qualified for.

List of Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Assist in planning, promoting and carrying out activities for the weekly Grace CRC McCowan Food Bank which started in September 2024- some roles are:

   1. Restock shelves and cupboards – in preparation for Thursday’s opening

   2. Receive weekly food delivery and sort, bag and prepare for distribution

2. Assist in the activities planned for the children and youth, as facilitated by the “Summer Job: Child and Youth Worker” and his/her supervisors

3. Assist in the jobs listed by the “Summer Job: Custodian Assistant” and his/her supervisor

4. Assist in the jobs to be done as determined by the “Summer Job: Media Coordinator” and his/her supervisor.

Responsibilities related to Children & Youth activities

As we look to serve our community’s children and youth during the summer months, the   employee will assist in planning and implementing a wide variety of activities for children and youth in the local community during the summer.

List of Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Plan and run activities for children during summer camp/drop-in program. 

2. Plan and run “Kids Church” (aka Sunday School) 

3. Help plan and run community barbecue

4. Provide and supervise opportunities for youth involvement in the aforementioned activities

Responsibilities related to Custodial activities

This is a 5-acre site, with a 60-year-old church building, and much maintenance is required for the land and the building as we serve the community.

List of Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Maintaining the lawn and gardens around the building

2. Maintenance inside the building, including cleaning & painting.

3. Saturday evening cleaning

Responsibilities related to media

Assist the organization in the creation of content for the website, worship and event slides, brochures and posters. Graphics design, document/prints layout, and basic computer skills will be needed to be able to carry out the tasks.

1. Assisting with the creation of digital content for the website, slide decks, and print materials (posters, brochures, postcards, flyers etc). 
2. Assisting with the maintenance of the church website.
